Softball player of the week nominations

Here are the players nominated by local coaches for the Morning Journal’s Player of the Week. The winner will be revealed in this Friday’s Edge.

Clearview head coach Denny Myers nominated junior shortstop Lauren Kokinda. She was 7 of 13 for the week with 3 RB and 6 stolen bases. Kokinda hit .538 with a .614 slugging percentage and a .600 on base percentage. Against Firelands in a 10 inning win, she was 3 for 4 scoring three runs and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

Clearview head coach Denny Myers nominated junior catcher Nikki Kent. She was 5 for 11 with 3 RBI and 3 stolen bases. Kent hit .455, with a .455 slugging percentage and an on base percentage of .538.

Keystone head coach Jim Piazza nominated junior pitcher Bee Shaw. Shaw was 2-0 on the mound allowing just one earned run in two games. She was 4 for 6 at the plate with three doubles and two runs scored.

St. Mary head coach Julie Myers nominated freshman Maddie Kreidler. She was 3 for 6 with 2 RBI, a run scored and 2 stolen bases.
