The Morning Journal will reveal the player of the week awards on Friday in the Edge. Here are several of the student-athletes nominated by their coaches:

Lorain coach Mark Feldmann nominated senior Shanique Ogle. Shanique had 22 points and 11 rebounds in three quarters of action. She also had 16 points and 9 rebounds against Elyria last Saturday.

North Ridgeville coach Amy Esser nominated Ashley Montgomery who had a career high 29 against Wellington and followed that up with 26 against North Olmsted. She had 13 total assists including a career high 9 against Wellington.

Avon coach Meghan Banks nominated Emily Julius. Emily had 27 points and 9 rebounds against Keystone. She also had 8 points and 8 rebounds against Westlake. In the two games Emily was 9 of 10 at the free throw line. Banks said “Emily is a great leader on and off the court as she not only excels on the court but in the classroom as well.”

Elyria Catholic coach Eric Rothgery nominated Ashley Schuster. Ashley had 20 points and 21 rebounds in a win against Columbia.
